I'm starting to see fruit!! =)
And pests... I just found out that I have Leaf Miners on my spinach... I took the infected leaves off, but I guess I'll have to get some sort of plant cover to keep the adult flies out so they don't infect my pretty little salad greens.
Also, we finally got most of our "window" boxes filled with plants and were able to transplant some of the little guys outdoors (thyme, oregeno, rosemary, cilantro, mint). Some of them have taken it hard, which is understandable. I tried to harden them off (get them used to the sun), but I wonder if the time of day I transplanted could have been chosen better- I'm thinking night, or not on a sunny day. Or maybe I should have let the very small ones get bigger (seems like that is taking FOREVER with the oregeno). Anyway, they definitely need to be watered more regularly out there, so I'll have to keep an even closer eye on them.
This past weekend we bought some waterwise plants to fill our planter boxes with, as well as some new varieties of tomatoes, cucumber, and tomatillo. The tomatoes are Burbank Slicer, Speckled Siberian, Yellow Pear, and ... ummm.... I'd have to go check. We also got a purple tomatillo, and a lemon cucumber, along with several native and waterwise plants (alkali sacaton [desert grass], Indian Ricegrass [seeds can be ground into flour], pine leaf penstemon [attracts butterfiles/hummingbirds], windflower [Anemone Sylvestris], and a Columbine. I had to remove a lot of leaves on the sylvestris because it had tumor-like structures on it- often these are insects that have made their home there. Not pleasant looking.
Anyway, here's the pictures of the garden as it is today!
